Were repeated attempts in the house and senate for a period of almost 12 years. It may be time revisit federal criminal code reform and to be sure, many of the challenges that Face Congress after the Brown Commission remain. Nevertheless, i believe that we do have a meaningful opportunity for reform. A bipartisan consensus has been developing around the idea we should be smart on crime. And given the current recep different to evidencebased implementation the time may be right for reconsideration of federal criminal code reform. I do have a number of suggestions for consideration if congress were to consider embarking on an effort to revise the federal criminal code. The first is the establishment of a new broadly representative commission, much like the Brown Commission, to draft federal criminal code reform legislation or to work with existing legislation like chairman sensenbrenners bill. The second is a partnership with the stabbed and respected law reform entities such as the Amer
