concerned about the jewelry and cash that appeared to have been taken, not sharon s missing daughter. they were concentrated on the burglary. reporter: they didn t seem to hear what she was saying, didn t understand her panic. they just weren t getting us or it wasn t sinking in. what was going on. they were trying to say, well, maybe she s at a football game. and then they reporter: there was a football game that night? both: yeah. and then, they went through her friends. and then actually they called one friend. and this person was dating a tara. reporter: sharon almost shouted, it wasn t her tara. the officer tried a different tactic. we ll put a b.o.l.o. out. reporter: b.o.l.o? both: yes. be on the look out. reporter: tara s family knew if she had gone to the football game, if she had gone anywhere, she would have told them. deputies said since tara was an adult, they would wait 24 hours before calling her a missing person. maybe she just left on
ord, then almost 14 years old, and her younger brother, paul. and i remember halfway down the road, remembering that i forget my key. but the closer we got to the house, i had seen my sister s car. so i said, oh, okay, cool. you know, i don t i don t need the key. you know, she s home. reporter: then she noticed the door wasn t quite closed. it was closed, but it wasn t latched. like you could just pull on it and the door would open. i remember walking in and oprah was on the tv. what did you assume when you saw the door open and the tv on? i thought maybe she left in a hurry. maybe she went with a friend, you know, and she just didn t close the door all the way. reporter: she was tara, veronica s older sister, not quite 20 then. veronica called out. no answer. she walked through the house, bathroom light was on. i went and looked in the bathroom and then i went in our bedroom and i d seen her purse and everything on top of her dresser. so then, i m like, where wo
time for the good, the bad, and the ugly. we start with the good. a woman celebrates her 106th birthday at her favorite restaurant, taco bell. the phoenix location surprising lois painter with decorations. i think taco bell is a good place to go to. i don t walk as good. [laughter] she ate tacos and mexican pizza for her meal. looks fabulous. rob: i like your style. next, the bad. this is actually pretty scary. a stranger caught on camera walking into a home right when a mother is putting her child down for a map. the mom confronting the man after he set off a security sensor. look at that. what are you doing in my home. oh, that door was open. i m like the door wasn t opened. that s scary. police in massachusetts looking for this man. a teacher takes a hammer to students phones and all caught on camera. watch this.
confirm the noise complaints. there was a noise complaint to his home that day. after speaking with the office managers, they weren t able to nail down where the noise complaint came from. it may have originated from administration versus a resident. is it true that ms. guyger lived directly below mr. jean. she did live directly below him. that part is true. and is the family aware of whether her apartment had a doormat? because his apartment had a bright red, very distinctive doormat. her apartment did not have a doormat. it certainly didn t have a red one. there was no doormat there at all. there were other indicators such as the floor number being displayed on the wall and the hallways being distinctly different because each apartment complex generally had a doormat in front of it that would have distinguished her floor from his floor. we don t believe that she accidentally ended up in his apartment. his door wasn t coincidentally on the apartment on the day she accidentally
the case may have been, i would have told you that. i know my child. reporter: how frustrated were you? oh, so very frustrated. reporter: veronica, not quite 14, remember, was terrified. why wasn t anybody taking action and figuring out where she was? reporter: keith and sharon called everybody they knew in town. their best friends offered moral support, came to the house, and one of them noticed something on the floor. we just heard, oh, my god! and we walked in and she was bending over, pulling it out of the carpet like it was embedded in the carpet. yeah, it wasn t just laying there. she pulled it out and she said, sharon, isn t this one of her earrings? and she said, yeah. reporter: so then? then eventually we found the we found another one. yeah. and and then the third one.
