Alumni distinguished professor of history emeritus at the ufa he earned his phd at colorado and the story that we hear is that he went to colorado to study the history of the American Southn but he was told they dont do that at the university of colorado. Hes won numerous prizes for his research including the western historicalte association, the prize from then society of american historians and the billington prize from the organization of american historians.
