let s take a look at the spending bill together. politics aside, do you see this being a good plan? you know, i understand the kind of compromises. you had a great discussion with senator carden. i don t like this plan. i would have been a no vote. it would have been a close call. because as the two of you were saying in a gridlocked environment like this without compromise, you don t go forward. but i would have had to hold my nose way too tightly to swallow some of those changes, especially, you mentioned de-funding the irs. i think that s big. but the change to dodd/frank is a big deal and very problematic one. why is it so dangerous in your mind then? how does it work? so what it does is it basically allows banks now to trade derivatives and not just any derivatives, but these risky bets in the part of the bank that s insured, that s backstopped by the u.s. government. so taxpayers once again backstopping these risky derivatives. one of the things we did in dodd/frank and i
and it is certainly not uncommon. today we heard the charges, the allegations of the prosecutors said in court about a prior incident with zimmerman strangling this young woman. and that s not uncommon in domestic violence cases. you have a 911 call generally when it s first reported by the alleged victim, that s the floor, not the ceiling in terms of the level of violence in the incidents that have occurred between two individuals. that was actually a positive sign she s corroborating with investigators and prosecutors because she s giving them more information about what has been going on. and i hope she continues to cooperate with the investigation going forward. and the judge ordered, ken, that he cannot be in touch with miss scheibe which is usually how someone tries to talk someone out of going forward as lisa raised. that in many cases sometimes the victims of domestic violence or alleged domestic violence don t
yeah. jenna: is the family involved? can they be implicated? in matrimonial situations like this, you see that all the time. somebody famous loses their temper, etc., etc., then all of a sudden behind the scenes they re like, please, drop this. don t go forward, etc. but let me turn to the case itself real quick, the actual murder case, jenna. you have an eyewitness to the crime who and he allegedly tried to attack her. and it s the forensic evidence if it backs up the eyewitness account, this is going to be an overwhelming case. jenna: we actually have sound from the neighbor who claims that he witnessed this, so let s go ahead and play that sound. a good girl is dead, and a lot of good people tried to do something about that. it s not an easy thing to watch. and it s not an easy thing to try to stop and not be able to. she was a great girl. she was a great mom. really loved her daughter. happy, full life.
emerging over our other big story. that s obama care. as congress nears the midterm elections. what will actually happen in the republican effort to defund or delay the president s health care law? some in the gop are now said to be considering a new strategy for taking on the president s law. joining us now, shane deapril, editor of campaigns and elections magazine. shane, always great to have you with us. good morning. good morning, jamie. let me start by asking you, who is supporting which strategy and which is the most likely to make any changes to obama care? right now there s a core of conservatives in the house and the senate and they essentially want to take this to the brink in terms of defunding obama care. they want to draw a hard line in the sand and say that either democrats defund the law, do not fund obama care, don t go forward with its implementation or they will go so far as to say let s shut down the federal government so that the fundi ii does not get there.
contextualize what s happening in europe and american terms. that s part of the problem of the headline the other day where the private sector is doing fine. interest being that press conference is reporters gave a couple of chances to go after republicans. he was there to say i call on congress to once again, you know, put forward my jobs bill which everybody knows they will not put forward. and when reporters asked about it he didn t really take the next step and say well, look, if he did that a week ago in cleveland. which the next step which is don t go forward, then it is on their hands. and that the voters will be the ones that decide how we go forward in november. that s the next decision. i think you have a situation here where you can make that case in europe because you are shifting from this austerity strategy to a growth strategy. big problem, though, it is still a tinderbox and can still go off and if it does go off in a big way, it is won t be any
