Ohio snowbirds who get the shot in Florida count in state data there

It’s a bit confusing, but we’ve got some answers for you.  Each state maintains its own database of vaccinated individuals and the states do not share information, said Donna Skoda, Summit County Public Health Commissioner.  Records of the COVID vaccine are within the state where the person was vaccinated, which includes non-Ohioans getting the shot in Ohio and Ohioans getting the vaccine in another state, according to Ohio Department of Health.  Ohio has no requirement to report vaccinations to the state, said Alicia Shoults, spokeswoman for the state health department.  Snowbirds get counted in Florida  Nancy Dotson and her husband, Dick, are 43 year-residents of Hudson but snowbirds who spend their winters in Florida.

When Can Children Get COVID-19 Vaccines in Northeast Ohio?

Shutterstock Health officials expect the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to be authorized for kids 12 and up in the coming weeks. COVID-19 vaccines could soon be opening up in Northeast Ohio to a new group: kids 12 and older. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will decide in the coming weeks whether to authorize the Pfizer vaccine for children aged 12 to 15, said Dr. Purva Grover, director of pediatric emergency departments at Cleveland Clinic. The vaccine is currently authorized for anyone ages 16 and older. Pediatric COVID-19 vaccine trials have taken longer than adult trials because researchers must monitor children for symptoms and side effects very closely, Grover said.
