In the May 18 general election, no candidate received more than 50% of the vote in the races for chairman and district representatives. For those five races, the two candidates with the most votes continued to the July 20 runoff election.
Floyd “Buck” Jourdain challenged incumbent Darrell Seki Sr. for Red Lake chairman, for which Jourdain earned 1,510 votes and Seki received 1,507 – a mere difference of three votes.
