The project, a mixed-use district that would be the largest development in Queens in decades, got a boost last month when the City Planning Commission approved the project’s application to rezone five blocks in Astoria.
The payout will go to 39 tenants who alleged that the landlord of their 83rd Avenue building in Kew Gardens, Lefferts LLC, flouted a law requiring the entire building be rent stabilized in exchange for tax breaks. Some tenants will receive as much as $80,000 as part of the deal.
