In a narrow vote, Burke County Board of Education member Jane Sohovich avoided a censure Monday night after complaints surrounding behavior leading up to the primary election on March 5.
Early voting is up in this year’s primary election, say local elections officials.
Kenny Rhyne, interim director of elections for the county, said as of the end of the day on Thursday, a total of 2,030 people had cast a ballot during early voting in Burke County.
The first day of early voting saw a little more than 300 voters casting a ballot in Burke County.

Burke County Board of Education Incumbent Don Hemstreet will be on the ballot in November after he secured enough signatures from registered voters to run as an unaffiliated candidate.
