Eight Noles and Two Relay Teams Advance to NCAA Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Florida State men's track and field team put together some phenomenal performances on their final day of competition at the NCAA East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind. A total of eight Noles and two relay teams will be headed to Eugene, Ore. for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. I was really pleased with our performances today, said Head Coach Bob Braman. Davis, Grimes and Wildschutt Punch Tickets to NCAA Championship

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Three Noles punched their tickets to Eugene, Ore., for the NCAA Outdoor Championships at the NCAA East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind. Jeremiah Davis and Isaac Grimes were the first duo to punch their tickets with solid performances in the long jump. Davis had a mark of 7.75m while Grimes posted 7.71m to finish sixth and seventh respectively. The Noles had three entries in the 100m dash and all three of them are moving onto Friday's quarterfinal race. Jo'Vaughn Martin ran a season-best 10.05 to finish third among qualifiers while Don'dre Swint ran a personal best 10.14 to finish eighth. Taylor Banks also ran a personal best 10.17 to finish 14th. In the men's 400m dash, Sean Watkins Jr. (46.18) and DaeQwan Butler (46.84) each advanced to Friday's quarterfinal race. James Rivera ran a gritty race in the rain in the 400m hurdles to qualify for the quarterfinal race. Rivera clocked a time of 51.50 to finish second in his heat.

DURHAM, N.C. - The Florida State men's track and field team put together one of the most dominant performances in ACC history in route to their second-straight ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The Noles scored 149 points, the most since the league expanded to 15 teams, and won by 56 points, the largest margin of victory since league expansion. The women's team finished third with 99 points. Jeremiah Davis (men's field) and Edidiong Odiong (women's track) were each named Most Valuable Performers which is given the athlete who scored the most points throughout the championship. Cunningham Shines; Five Noles Crack FSU Top Ten List in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla - After a great start to the Tom Jones Memorial on Friday, the Noles picked up right where they left off on Saturday. Five Noles cracked the FSU all-time top ten list, including Trey Cunningham who broke Arthur Blake's 35-year old record in the 110m hurdles. Another really good day for our group. What Trey did to run 13.21 in his season opener is almost unheard of. Our sprinters and jumpers had a really good day as well, Head Coach Bob Braman said. Cunningham shined in his first race since the NCAA Indoor Championships on Mar. 12. Cunningham tied his personal best in the 110m hurdles with a school record time of 13.21. Cunningham's time is currently the fastest in the world and also ties him for the 10th-fastest time in NCAA history. He also has the top time in the NCAA this season. TAMPA, Fla. - The Florida State track and field team had a solid performance at the South Florida Invitational Friday afternoon. The Noles picked up two individual titles and one relay title during Friday's action. The 4x100m relay team had a really nice opener. The got their region mark in the books with a really good time under windy conditions, Head Coach Bob Braman said. A good day for our jumpers, but unfortunately, the wind was too strong for those marks to earn them a qualifying spot. The 4x100m relay team of Taylor Banks, Amir Willis, Don'dre Swint and Jo'Vaughn Martin shined, as they ran away with the race in the final 200 meters. The four athletes combined to for a time of 39.26, which is the ninth-fastest time this season in the country and will put the Noles in good position to qualify for the NCAA East Region Preliminaries.
