automobile accident is in the middle of the road. he clearly had to know the people wanted him to fight, that he was getting those messages sent to him regularly from fellow gop members and also, calls to his office from voters. well, he knew that and when they say this is the most turbulent time a person has had, what more did he want? he had a republican house. he had a republican senate. this became about john boehner, john boehner raising money and john boehner as the speaker and staff and lobbyists enabling him versus the institution, the broad picture, what they ll do for america, articulating that and reaching out to his own conference. it became about john boehner. it happened. it happened to me and a lot of people but he got lost somewhere along the line of where he needed to be and how he needed to operate. it became more about john boehner. we ll see if mitch mcconnell will as well. thank you, sir, for joining us. we appreciate it. we want to hear from you and get you
weeks after election he s talking about the very thing he said he was not legally able to do for many many months if not years. it just depends now, on boehner in the house, how he wants to react to it. finally you re i won t say a presidential contender, but certainly if you wanted to be you would get into that arena. with your reelection in wisconsin. something appeals to you? well i care deeply about my state and country. i think the next president should come out of the ranks of governor. there is a controft of the government knows best ideas we ve seen versus i think the fresh new exciting ideas in the states that empower people and put taxpayers back in charge. i ve been proud to be a part of that in wisconsin. yes. . i think whether it s any number of exciting governors out there offering a stark contrast to what we ve seen out of
hoped to have happen this year is not happening. mcconnell said no shutdowns. there was an idea that boehner could hold off the far right wing of his caucus because now he could send bills that maybe passed with democratic support to the senate and actually get senate republicans to pass them. there could be more regular order. it s not happening. i think it s all on boehner right now. and they need democrats. they need democrats at this point. you know to get anything done it seems like. it is fascinating to watch. we ll watch as it plays out, alisyn. you have the split in the republican party. the governing conservatives, speaker boehner, leader mcconnell i m sorry, michaela how are you, who think they have to govern and be part of it. you have the newer, younger members who think they re more of an opposition party. if the president is for it they need to be against it we ll keep did right up to the deadline. that s what happens when you get new fresh blood in there. that s ok
i have always voted to allow the process to continue. allow the process to continue means to allow the president to make a decision. gotcha. i m getting frustrated with it. as democrats and republicans talk about coming together in the senate, there is a republican versus republican fight brewing in the house. even as they bring their largest house majority since the great depression. not everyone in the gop conference is sold on boehner as speaker for another term. in fact, conservatives ted yoho and louis gome rt each plan to offer themselves as alternatives to boehner. they are upset with the decisions and deals he made since 2011. it really is time for a change. you deceived us when you went to obama and pelosi. you said you would fight amnesty tooth the and nail and you didn t. you funded it and took the only hostage obama would like for us to shoot. it was a terrible strategy.
worth a shot i guess. patti ann: yeah. as you mentioned, we yet to see specifics on boehner s proposed lawsuit. i m sure they re working on issues like that, trying to find a specific harm. but if it did actually become a case, as you mentioned, the supreme court already ruled on some cases what they said were overreach. obama s recess appointments saying those were unconstitutional. he lost the hobby lobby case which strikes a blow to obamacare. if it actually found is to have standing and goes forward as a lawsuit does it have a chance ultimately succeeding? we would really have to look at the specifics of what they re suing him over. patti ann: right. this is a novel legal theory. congress has other tools to check the president. they have the power of the purse. as we ve seen, they haven t been too successful stopping president, particularly in the case of obamacare. we learned during the government shutdown last time when congress doesn t pass new spending bill, obama care fund
