Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) Dir. Dominique Rubia-Tutay said during a virtual press conference that the total number of workers displaced as of March 31 stood at 118,210.
“Yung huli kong pina-generate na data na March 23, ang level po ng displacement natin is nasa around 111,000. Pero nung pina-generate ko napo yung March 31, it’s now at 118,210 (As per the previous data generated on March, our level of displacement was around 111,000. But when I asked for data up to March 31, it’s now at 118,210),” she said.
By “displaced” workers, Tutay meant the employees who were retrenched or those whose companies have closed down temporarily or permanently.
