welcome to the programme. one of donald trump s fiercest critics in his own republican party has been forced out of her seat. liz cheney has lost her right to run as the republican candidate for the congressional elections in november, losing the primary to the trump backed candidate, harriet hagerman. but while ms cheney lost her seat, she arguably gained something else. she is now the face of the trump opposition, more so than any democrat. and in her concession speech, ms cheney made it very clear about why she lost. two years ago, i won this primary with 73% of the vote. i could easily have done the same again. the path was clear. but it would have required that i go along with president trump s lie about the 2020 election. it would ve required that i enable his ongoing efforts to unravel our democratic system and attack the foundations of our republic. that was a path i could not and would not take. i have said since january 6th that i will do whatever it takes to ensure
trillion dollar war over a broken robot. i m very critical this morning, i call at this time u-turn. i think it s very important for all of our decision makers to recognize the that weakness is provocative and a world in which response to american assets is to pull back or except attack, is a world in which america won t be able to defend our interest. tucker: democratic candidates have denounced the president. from the very beginning of his betsy, taking a belligerent course of escalation, with iran. i mean, we pulled out of an antinuclear deal that gave us complete transparency into the
editor at large for the atlantic and richard wolffe from msnbc.com. it turns out there s been some real progress. i think it was on your show that said if president obama could trade a messy war for getting syria to become part of the chemical weapons convention and we can get back on somewhat on the same side with russia on trying to deal with global problems, that would be an enormous strategic success the president could say we ve checked off a box and we re not going have another trillion dollar war. and richard wolffe, i m not hearing any complaints from those who are saying the president seems indecisive on syria. they don t seem to even notice what s happening in syria. they were so passionate about the victims suffering and they forgot about that suffering.
