moved to 500,000 jobs, great paying jobs, that will actually contribute to our economy and also lessen our dependence on foreign oil. leo hendry will tell you we need 22 million jobs. that s right. we re not going to get that unless we get our growth up, right? and we need investment to drive, that correct? and we need investment to do that so we need confidence to do that. what s the second thing we could do? the second thing we could do is we have three trade treaties right now where we re allowing the countries to import all the things in here and we re still paying duties going to them. if we were to pass the treaties, what would happen is we would have an increase in our export market to those three areas. that s korea, colombia and i can t remember what the third one is, so that s another thing that we can do. what about china? that doesn t cost us one job. i think the administration, i ll give them praise on the back. they have played the currency issue right. why?
scores on the bill from the congressional budget office are not expected to be out today. if that is the case, can your hearings go ahead? well, yeah. that kind of gets to the heart of the matter here. what the budget committee s doing today is essentially a shell game, and we re just basically kicking the ball down the field so that the rules committee can take up and basically avoid the regular order or process congress normally takes to pass a very complicated bill like this. jon: well, your committee is meeting about this sort of complicated and controversial, in this case, process called reconciliation, right? can you explain that? right. this is the process that gets us started so that the bill can pass the house and then go back over to the senate and pass with 51 votes. this is unprecedented in the history. and to think that this bill doesn t score, doesn t cost, we have no idea because we don t know what the bill is. jon: you say it s unprecedented,
things he s now saying. it s getting more people insured and that s the focus he should have had. he dodged my simple. it s a simple one cause i m a simple man. shouldn t we try the stuff that doesn t cost anything first? i think that s one of a number of things we can try. but that by itself would not be enough. you agree with me. of course. nobody is saying reform is not needed. try the stuff that doesn t cost money first. exactly. allow the states to do it. massachusetts started down this road. it s a mini direction of obama care. premiums are through the roof. they haven t insured anybody. cost is out of control. if you start in the states and you do these little things, you will know what works and doesn t work. crowley is winning the argument. she s doing more of the talking. every bureaucracy always you don t want to believe the numbers that the professor in the wall street journal comes up, you don t want to believe the cbo. you want to believe anything

numbers. ben, one of the things that folks in chicago and at the white house say is look, there is action. they got transportation money here that they think will affect 2.8 million jobs. does that cut any ice? i think where there has been some federal spending, obama has tried to say he would like a lot more stimulus spending. they have introduced legislation that will go nowhere for the last six months to a year, kind of calling for some form of new federal spending. i think that message, people don t really like that message of the government should spent more money which is really the core of the democratic policy, what they have done, what they would like to do. people want a government that gives them things but doesn t cost anything and there s sort of a tension. i want to pick up on something michael said in terms of what congress is doing. congress is jumping out of the 30th story and they just want to dare each other to see who is going to have the rope once we get to
