she gets down within single digits, then she is within striking distance. but i think donald trump as himself perfectly positioned still, in spite of her rise. i think he is going to win new hampshire. i think we ll continue to one after that, and then, what i really think is the interesting question, is going to be, at what point does the rnc step in and publicly suggests that everybody should back away? i think though eventually come in and ask nikki haley to step aside. brandon, cynically, in previous election seasons, 2012, 2016, where there is usually somebody that is a strong candidate, a lot of times, commentators and analysts will say, these people are just running for vice president. given how donald trump treated his last vice president and supporters for his last vice president, do you think that there is anyone in the current republican field who has that delusion? is nikki haley thinking to herself, you know what, i might miss the moon, but i will be among the stars. don
there, including, with the false insertion that in the battleground states, quote, hundreds of thousands of votes were altered and or not lawfully cast in the presidential election. but even if none of his claims makes sense, it s beside the point, because trump s real purpose is just flood the zone with misinformation. so just by releasing the so-called report he s already doing damage. here to discuss is rick hansen, professor of law in political science at ucla where he is also the director of the safeguarding democracy project. thanks so much professor. he has a new book coming out next month, a real right to vote, a constitutional amendment can safeguard american democracy. he joins me now. we thank you so much. i will start with this. trump is releasing this report. he says it proves that he is innocent. but let s just be practical here. he didn t read this report. nobody on his staff rig this
in doing so, if those issues are decided by the supreme court it would necessarily affect these other challenges as well. i think that is why the supreme court of the united states will take this up to prevent exactly what you were talking about from happening. andrew, very quickly, i have to ask, i m a political science professor, i look at the entire planet. it galls me, that every time we talk about trump trials, this comes to mind. last year, july 2023, brazil s bolsonaro was barred from running for office until 2030. he lost the election in 2022 on january 8th his right wing supporters went and attacked the capital. it took less than six months for the brazilian supreme court to say, hey, this guy engaged in insurrection. are we feeling in this country? that were running up and almost the three year anniversary of trump of january six, and trump is not in, jail when a country
