i m john berman. brianna is off. chief white house correspondent kaitlan collins is here. honored as always. a very busy morning. just one single text message, just one, a few minutes before midnight our jamie gangel broke the news that the secret service turned over just one text message in response to a request by the homeland security inspector general. this is about text messages sent before and around the attack on the capitol on january 6, 2021. according to a letter obtained by cnn from the inspector general to the january 6th committee, the ig asked for a month s worth of records from 24 secret service personnel and was provided with just one single text he is change about january 6th. this comes as the national archives has asked the secret service to investigate saying they are aware of the, quote, potential unauthorized deletion of agency text messages. committee member zo lofgren calls it problematic. the secret service has turned over thousands of pages of
inflation reduction act into law, one of the most significant laws in our history. let me say from the start with this law the american people won and the special interest lost. will: now while he sits there smug, clapping, chuck schumer and jim clyburn by his side telling you this is the biggest win in history, the only one who is going to suffer from so-called inflation reduction act is you. on top of not actually reducing inflation, biden is now, of course, as you know, adding 87,000 new irs agents to the federal government. effectively doubling the irs. they are adding $80 billion to the irs budget over the next 10 years and get this, 57% of that is going to enforcement. now the white house and democrats tell you the plan is to i can majeure that big corporations and the 1 percent pay their fair share of taxes. but, like everything else in biden s new bill, it doesn t actually do what it says it will do. in reality, you are going to be audited and robbed blind. accordin
the bill includes $369 billion to combat climate change, largest in u.s. history. it gives medicare the power to negotiate some drug prices. it caps medicare out-of-pocket expenses at $2,000 and extended affordable care act subsidies for three years. white house reporter kevin livtak looks at what it means. jess, i want to start with you because we have news breaking in the last five to ten minutes, which i think is a good harbinger for your next few days at the capitol, where do things stand for the key elements for this to move forward? reporter: phil, democrats getting good news from the senate parliamentarian. to give you the big picture, they are using as you both noted this complex budget process that requires the support of all 50 democrats. doesn t need any republican support, but in order to do that the parliamentarian has to rule it passes and musters up to all of these rules surrounding it. we just found out really in the last ten minutes that the parliamenta
dana: in the meantime we re expecting a series of rapid fire decision in the final days of the term. among those still to come the case of a high school football coach fired for praying on the field and attempt to stop president biden from whether or not regulations should be decided by the white house or the job of congress. looming over all of this a potentially transformative decision on abortion. the court weighing the fate of a 15-week ban on to procedure from the state of mississippi. that decision has the potential to overturn roe v. wade which would end nearly 50 years of precedence. dana: reaction is pouring in after the court decided a new york law restricting guns in public was in violation of the second amendment. for more on that we go to chief legal correspondent shannon bream in washington a lot of takes, yesterday, a lot of hot takes. give us your reasons and informed takes this morning. listen, it was definitely an expansive second amendment-friendl
so this is just into cnn, a source confirmed to cnn a federal grand jury investigating january 6th has subpoenaed former white house counsel pat cipollone. abc news s first report that. cnn has now confirmed that as well. abby philip, david chalian, mark philip, david axelrod are all back with me here. thanks so much for joining. this is big news. what s say you, david chalian? i think we ve seen over the last couple of weeks this escalation in this grandeur process, that is separate any part from all of the doj investigations and prosecutions into those that actually storm the capital and broke into the capital. this is now, and has been, we ve seen as pence aides have been called it and what have you, getting into the inner sanctum. we don t get more intersect and then the white house inner council, who we know through testimony given to the january six committee, was running down the hall to the oval office to try and stop meetings from progressing, who was trying to get
