During last night’s school board meeting, Brown said he had reconsidered his decision and will not be leaving his job. Earlier this month, Brown announced his resignation to take a new job with Discovery Education, which was set to begin next month. After that decision, the Ithaca Voice reports a petition began circulating calling for the state’s education department to investigate Brown. Allies of his ex-wife wrote a lengthy letter late last year outlining multiple allegations to New York’s Department of Education against Brown, which the school board has said was beyond their purview.

Superintendent Doctor Luvelle Brown says the testing program is voluntary for students and staff. The program itself will be a non-invasive form of antigen testing. Brown says that although the Ithaca City School District hasn’t been identified as a Yellow Zone under new state guidelines, they’ll be following those guidelines and test 20 percent of in-person students and staff at each school over two-week periods. The testing is not mandatory. In-person learning will begin Monday, January 4th. Tags:
