President Biden poised to mark the occasion with his first speech to a joint session of Congress, The Daily 202 reached out to a handful of experts to get their sense of how he has done on a handful of key challenges,
from the pandemic to the economy to immigration. We have separated their responses and will be running them in two waves, today and tomorrow. Their contributions have been edited for clarity and length.
i know guy benson, you just wrote a great piece on town hall.com about the nunes memo and several pieces that you think everyone should be looking at. here now we are going to hear from senate majority leader mitch mcconnell and speaker of the house paul ryan. let s listen. good afternoon, everybody. how you doing? first, i want to again express that our hearts and prayers are with the victims of yesterday s tragic accident. you know, for those of us who were there, we just were very grateful for the first responder. especially our doctors, our doctor caucus and husbands and wives of our members who ran out and took care of the injured. it was very impressive to see people drop what they were doing to go tend to those in need. over the last 24 hours right here in west virginia, we ve had very productive discussions about our agenda in 2018. everything from infrastructure to national security. we finished the year strong with tax reform. in just weeks, it has become a
replacing them with nothing. why do you force repeal without a discussion to the american people of what you want to replace it with. republicans are not offering a system solution to this problem. my next guess does, indeed, have a solution and he introduce it, georgia congressman, a member of the republican s doctor caucus. rather than just throw something out you are offering an alternative. what is it? absolutely. in fact, we are the party of know, and i introduced a bill h.r. 2299 that will repeal obamacare, allow people to boy health insurance across state lines, and it will allow people to join an association pool to buy insurance at a lower price and it will set up high risk pools to cover those who are not insurable today, and put tax fairness in place so everyone
