hello, everyone, and happy new year. i m bianna golodryga. welcome to cnn newsroom. we re following several different developments into a machete attack in times square on new year s eve. moments ago the 19-year-old suspect was arrested for attempted murder and assault of police officers. cnn has also learned that the suspect was added to a terrorist watch list just a few weeks before the attack. sources tell cnn that fbi agents interviewed the suspect in mid-december after family members grew concerned about his plans to travel to afghanistan to join the taliban. let s bring in glroria pasmina from times square. the suspect has opinion arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder of a police officer and two counts of attempted assault. the suspect remains in the hospital. he was injured during the attack. a police officer did fire his service weapon energy him on the should, and he remains at this hour under police guard at the hospital. let me tell you what
basilica. t the. now that the funeral services are over, what are your personal reflections? what did it mean to you as a catholic? well, one of the things that i was thinking as i looked out and saw all of these people that pope benedict had known for so many years was the real sort of scope of his career, if you will, in the church from a priest to a theologian who was active in the second vatican council in the 60s, to the dock trip of the faith, to pope, a writer, a scholar, then finally a grandfatherly figure. it just struck me that this man has given his entire life.
