Attempts by Zulu royal members to bury hatchet after days of tensions Share Durban - After days of heated exchanges and accusations, there are internal attempts by members of the Zulu royal court to reconcile and give Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu a dignified burial identical to the one given to the King Goodwill Zwelithini. On Monday, senior members of the royal court, Princess Thembi Ndlovu (nee Zulu), Princess Mbonisi Zulu and Prince Mathuba Zulu, among others, attended an evening meeting at Kwakhangelamankengane Palace in Nongoma where the mourning for Dlamini Zulu is taking place. Walking into the palace, Prince Mbonisi briefly said they have been called to a meeting which would be attended by, among others, Queen Mayvis Zungu, the only surviving wife of the late King Cyprian Bhekuzulu, the father of the King Goodwill Zwelithini.

Royal convoy escorts Queen Mantfombi body on final journey By Ntombi Nkosi Share Johannesburg - Delegates from the Zulu and Eswatini Royal Family arrived at the Hillbrow Mortuary in Joburg on Wednesday, to collect Zulu Royal Regent, Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zuluâs body. The delegates arrived around 9am in a convoy of luxurious cars, taxis and ordinary cars. The body of Dlamini Zulu will be taken after a traditional rituals, and transported in a convoy to Nongoma The private burial of the 65-year-old daughter of the late King Sobhuza II of Eswatini and sister of King Mswati III, will take place in private and in the thick of dawn (all Swati royals are buried like this) on Wednesday.

Two court applications are contesting the late King Goodwill Zwelithini’s will, signalling a turbulent succession battle. At the centre are Zwelithini’s eldest wife, Queen Sibongile Dlamini and two of his daughters, princesses Ntandoyenkosi Zulu and Ntombizosuthu Zulu-Duma (Dlamini’s children). In the first matter, Dlamini is laying claim to 50% of Zwelithini’s estate worth more than R71-million and including the Ingonyama Trust, of which the king was the sole trustee. The pair married under civil law in 1969 and therefore in community of property. This was before Zwelithini was crowned, as custom dictated that an unmarried male could not assume the throne.
