KINGSTON, N.Y. â Two city men have been indicted on a charge of murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old girl, according to the Ulster County District Attorneyâs Office.
Gilbert Thomas, 24, 9 Franklin and Robert âNikkiâ James, 46, both of 49 Franklin St. were indicted by an Ulster County Grand Jury, according to the DAâs office. The indictment was handed up Wednesday, Dec. 30, the office said.
Thomas and James are accused of second-degree murder for âacting in concert under circumstances evincing a depraved indifference to human life while recklessly engaging in conduct which created a grave risk of death to another person and causing the death of that person or a third person,â a press release issued Wednesday says.

to a 12-year-old Kingston girl whose life was tragically cut short.

Mason.
Mason was fatally shot on Dec. 17 outside of her home on Van Buren
Street. Her 9-year-old brother was also shot,
but he survived.
Two men, Gilbert Thomas, 24,
and Robert James, 46, have
been charged in her murder. They were arrested a week after allegedly firing
the fatal gunshots.

On Christmas Eve, New York State Police announced the arrested of 24-year-old Gilbert Thomas and Robert James, age 46, both of Kingston, NY, for murder, assault and criminal possession of a firearm.
On the evening of Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, Thomas and James were involved in shooting into the residence at 60 Van Buren Street in the City of Kingston which ultimately caused the death of 12-year old D’Janeira Mason, police say.
