A wake is being held today for the 12-year-old
Kingston girl who was fatally shot inside her home back on Dec. 17. Visitation for D Janeira Mason
will take place today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Joseph Leahy Funeral Home
on Smith Avenue in Kingston. Her 9-year-old brother was also shot but survived. Police
say two men, Gilbert Thomas and Robert
James, have been charged in her murder.
Ramapo police say a car flipped over on its side and almost crashed into a building on Route 17 on Sunday. There is no word yet on what caused the accident, but police say no one was injured.

KINGSTON, N.Y. â The two men charged with murder in the fatal shooting of 12-year-old DâJaneira Mason in her Midtown home are scheduled to appear in City Court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, Dec. 29, according to Ulster County District Attorney David Clegg.

Gilbert Thomas, 24, and Robert Nikia Nikki James, 46, both of Kingston, have been charged with second-degree murder, felony assault and criminal use of a firearm in connection with the Dec. 17 fatal shooting at 60 Van Buren St., state police said Thursday.
The hearing for Thomas and James is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Clegg said, but it was not immediately clear whether it will be held in person or virtually. There also was no immediate word about which lawyer or lawyers will be representing the defendants.

Two men have been arrested in the shooting death of a 12-year-old girl in Ulster County s Kingston last week, New York State Police said Thursday.
Gilbert Thomas, 24, and Robert James, 46, both of Kingston, each face charges of second-degree murder, first-degree assault and criminal use of a firearm in the shooting that left D Janeira Mason dead the evening of Dec. 17.

The suspects allegedly were involved in a shooting that sent bullets into the residence. At least one hit Mason and she died. A 9-year-old boy also was wounded in the arm but had been expected to recover, Kingston Police said.
