Hospitals are running out of masks, ventilators and other crucial equipment. President trump has invoked the defense production act so he can direct manufacturers to start making key medical supplies. So far the president said hes not asked any of those companies to get started, they expect the president to be asked about that decision today at his briefing with media as supplies start to run out for some people. Lets get to natasha chen. More people are being told stay where you are unless absolutely necessary, dont leave the house. You mentioned some of those states, california especially the most populace state telling people to stay home unless its essential business. And those other states are doing similar guidance like new york. They are talking about people staying home unless their business is critical. Those critical businesses include groceries, pharmacy, gas station. New york would still run the public transit. There are exceptions to this. The idea is to flatten that curve

The coronavirus pandemic is spreading so quickly around the world that Health Experts are having a tough time keeping track of all the new cases. Heres what we know. Right now, Johns Hopkins university in the u. S. Reporting more than 307,000 covid19 infections worldwide. More than 13,000 people have died. As more testing is done in the United States, the number of confirmed cases is surging. There are now almost 26,000 cases of covid19 and more than 320 deaths. Just a few hours ooh that was 300 deaths to show you how quickly its moving up. The epicenter of the outbreak in europe is still italy. More than 53,000 cases. That is double any other country outside of china. Nearly 800 people died there in a single day. The Prime Minister says it is the greatest crisis facing the country since world war ii. And the contagion is spreading
