Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has launched a program in Italy to provide support to Ukrainians who have fled the conflict. The initiative is already active in Milan, Rome and Trieste and will soon open in Naples.
A reported 12,000 Ukrainian minors have been enrolled in Italian schools, out of a total of 30,467 minors who have reached the country as of Friday, April 1. Overall, Italy is currently hosting some 79,000 Ukrainian refugees. Over 1,800 sleeping accommodations and several apartments confiscated by authorities from criminal organizations have been made available for them.
European countries are working out how to provide education and integration opportunities to the more than four million people who have fled Ukraine since the Russian invasion in February. Two million of them are children, according to UNESCO.
