Body of missing Dimapur youth retrieved after 72 hour-search

Our Correspondent Diphu, Oct. 11 (EMN):  The body of a youth from Dimapur, who went missing after accidentally falling into Langvoku waterfall, was retrieved after 72 hours of continued search operations by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Fire and Emergency Service team in Diphu. The youth, Suresh Chakma (23) of Firing Range colony in Dimapur, had visited Langvoku waterfall for a picnic along with his friends on October 8 when the tragic accident happened. Chakma’s friends informed that they had climbed to the crest of the waterfall and were taking photos when the victim slipped and fell. Langvoku waterfall is located about 43 km away from Dimapur. As part of the operation, the local committee members of Langvoku waterfall took a bold step in letting the main river water divert to the other side in order to decrease the volume of river water. Our Correspondent Diphu, Oct. 6 (EMN): More than 2500 population of Karbi Anglong are now relaxed as the all-weather road construction of Taralangso-1 to Sarthe Senar village via Langmili village has finally completed under the leadership of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Chief Executive Member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang. Ward No.11 Ward Commissioner, Sagar Chetry, said this on construction of the much needed roads connecting the said villages. Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Chetry said that because of poor road conditions, the residents of the villages were suffering especially the school students, daily wage earners, local vegetable vendors, etc. during rainy seasons. There are four government schools and three polling stations with around 2500 voters in the Langmili area and consisting of around 25 villages. The length of the road is 4.5 km, beginning from behind Diphu Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H) and ending at Sarthe Senar village under the Diphu PWD Road division.

Our Correspondent Diphu, Sep. 24 (EMN): In a tragic accident, a couple who were returning home from a morning walk were killed by a speeding car at Sildharampur along NH-29 (Doboka-Dimapur highway) under Dokmoka Police station on Saturday. The victims were identified as Dilipson Rongphar (52) and Nisha Rongpipi (45) of Hori Taro residence under Dokmoka police station. The driver of the vehicle and co-passengers were taken to Dokmoka police station. According to family’s information, the incident occurred around 5:30 am when the victims were returning home from a morning walk. A speed Swift Dzire heading towards Guwahati with registration number AS-01EV-9414 hit the couple from behind where the husband died on the spot while the wife died on the way to Nogoan hospital. The bodies were taken to Diphu Medical College and Hospital, Mortuary for autopsy.
