The Patiala House Court s Sessions Judge on Friday dismissed the petition of Businessmen Ansal Brothers and three other persons sought suspension of sentence in tampering with evidence in the 1997 Uphaar fire tragedy case during the pendency of their appeal.
A Delhi court on Friday dismissed the pleas of real estate barons Sushil and Gopal Ansal seeking suspension of their 7-year jail terms awarded for tampering with evidence in the 1997 case of Uphaar cinema fire which had claimed 59 lives.
The Sessions Court of Patiala House Court on Friday while dismissing Businessmen Ansal brothers plea of Suspension of the sentence in tampering with evidence in the 1997 Uphaar fire tragedy case, stated that the polluters of the judicial firmament are required to be shown no leniency to maintain the sublimity of the institution, and recourse faith in the general public in the administration of justice.
The Association of Victims of Uphaar Tragedy (AVUT) on Tuesday pleaded before a Delhi court for life imprisonment to businessmen Sushil Ansal, Gopal Ansal and others in an evidence tampering case relating to 1997 cinema fire tragedy.
The case is related to the tampering with the evidence of the main case of the fire tragedy which had claimed 59 lives, in which Ansals were convicted and sentenced to two years jail term by the Supreme Court.
