With most of Connecticut’s COVID restrictions eased or rolled back entirely, Memorial Day 2021 is shaping up to look more normal than it did last year.
This year, many Connecticut communities have announced plans to hold parades in person to honor members of the armed forces who lost their lives. It’s a stark contrast from last year when municipalities hosted small outdoor and socially-distanced events with live-streaming with the state and region slowly emerging from weeks of lockdown.

Angelica Elena McBride, age 46, of Milford, beloved wife of Jon McBride, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021.
Born in Bucharest, Romania, on June 7, 1974, daughter of Ica Smiranda Ilie and the late George Ilie, Angelica came to the United States in 1994 and had lived in Seattle, Washington, before moving to Milford 20 years ago. She had worked as a tech writer for Sikorsky Aircraft. Angelica enjoyed cooking and sewing while making gifts for family and friends, she liked long walks and the years that she spent at Sikorsky and the friends that she made there.
In addition to Jon, her loving husband of 28 years, she leaves behind her mother, Ica Ilie, of Romania, children Duncan McBride and Zina McBride, both of Milford, she leaves behind her sister, Nina Maltev, of Romania, and a niece, Elena Maltev. She really loved all her Romanian friends here as if they were her own family and carries them all in her heart for eternity.
