Nagaland observes World Environment Day - Eastern Mirror

EM Bureau Dimapur/Kohima, June 6 (EMN):  Various institutions and organisations held programmes marking World Environment Day (WED), which was celebrated on June 5 on the theme ‘Only one Earth’, across the state. LFHSS: Little flower Higher Secondary School (LFHSS), National Service Scheme (NSS) Club, Kohima organised a plantation drive around the school campus on account of WED on Monday. It was informed that about 120 saplings were planted around the school campus. The club encouraged the students and staff for a collective environmental action and advocated for transformative environmental change on a global scale and further encouraged to live sustainably. The volunteers along with the teachers further distributed eco-friendly reusable cotton bags to the traffic personnel in and around Kohima town. Plantation drives mark 'World Environment Day' in Nagaland

EM BureauDimapur/Kohima, June 4 (EMN): Various organisations including educational institutions across Nagaland observed the ‘World Environment Day’ by organising plantation drives. ‘World Environment Day’ is observed on June 5 to spread awareness about the threat to the environment due to rising pollution levels and climate change. It is the UN’s most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the environment. Since it began in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries. Dimapur: Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), in collaboration with Act of Kindness, organised a plantation drive at the State Stadium, near the DC Court Junction, Dimapur, on Saturday on the theme “Only one earth.” The founder and president of Act of Kindness Society, Lenti Aier, informed that around 200 saplings would be given to all the participants who came from different colleg
