SILKYARA, India (Reuters) -Rescuers trying to reach workers trapped for nearly a week in a collapsed highway tunnel in the Indian Himalayas are working to replace the main digging machine on Saturday to restart operations after they hit a snag. The disaster management office revised the number of people trapped since Sunday morning in the tunnel in Uttarakhand state to 41, up from 40. A new machine flown in from the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, has reached the site, Anshu Malik Halko, director at state-run National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDC) told Reuters.

reporter: marek is trapped in the idaho silver mine. they have dug through 37 feet of earth in what is called the lucky friday mine. they ve been working around-the-clock since friday when a roof of the tunnel a mile underground collapsed. so far rescuers have not made contact with the miner who is trapped, however you can bet that they are hoping on marek s 30 years of mining experience will prove to be a lifesaving experience. that and the start up of what they call the digging machine, it s a front end loader modified for mining, and called a mucker. this will allow rescuers to work faster and more safely. the remote control mucker is on its way down to the miner and is being reseam -bld. they hope to have it up and running today. we ll keep you posted. the company that owns this mine says the digging machine will be able to move material without needing all the additional ground support to insure the
