BLACKSBURG, VA A former Virginia Tech women s soccer player has filed a federal lawsuit against the team s coach, claiming he abused and retaliated against her after she refused to join the rest of the time in kneeling before games.
The federal lawsuit, filed by former player Kiersten Hening, named coach Charles Chugger Adair as the defendant, according to a report by The Roanoke Times. The lawsuit claims Adair s abuse grew so bad she was forced to resign from the team.

Plans by Sudberry Properties to build 268 apartments in 22 three-story buildings at Oceanside’s 465-acre El Corazon Park will be considered when the city’s Planning Commission meets Monday.
The 12-acre, mixed-use development will include commercial or retail space on the ground floors of three of the buildings. The site is along the park’s eastern edge at Rancho Del Oro Drive near the senior center, the almost finished aquatics center, and the proposed indoor sports arena. It’s just south of the Ventana development of 70 townhomes built by the Lennar Corporation that opened in 2019, also within the park.
The city planning staff has recommended approval of Sudberry’s development plan. The Planning Commission’s decision will be final unless it’s appealed to the Oceanside City Council. The proposal appears to have broad public support.

The San Diego Sockers are good at winning league championships, but it s been a while since they ve hoisted the trophy.
The franchise has won 14 championships in their storied history, but the last title came in 2013.

The Sockers can regain their championship-winning ways this weekend when they play the Ontario Fury in the championship series of the Major Arena Soccer League.
The series starts Friday in Ontario, with a champion being crowned Sunday evening. The winning team earns the Ron Newman Cup, the MASL championship trophy. Of course, Ron Newman was the legendary coach of the Sockers for many of their title teams.
