Major distillery here, and it was a very important part of the plantation economy. Historians have known this for a long time, but about 10 years ago, we decided that we wanted to explore that. We came out here with archaeologists, excavated the site, found were the distillery where the distillery had been located, did about five years of excavation and research, and decided that we had a wonderful opportunity to bring this back and to show what an 18thcentury distillery was like. You cant see this anywhere else in the country. There is a gristmill here as well . How do these two relate to each other .
