I think the salient points made by our memo still exist and they are still true. A little bit of it is creating so much dust and clout that people just give up and saying, you are saying that, i am just going to tune out. That may be part of it too. Martha it seems like one of the Big Bones Of Contention would be whether or not it was essential to the fisa surveillance. You have argued that it was essential, that without it, they would have not received the authorization for the warrant from the fisa court. Do they have you said that there is other information about carter page. You said they are basically three things. You have yahoo news article, the dossier, and other information about carter page. Can they argue that other information was substantial enough . They didnt make that argument to the judge. If you have enough without the dossier, then why did you
include the dossier . If you have enough without the dossier, why did you, in your court filing, lead with the dossier . Lawy
reporter: and while the inspector general didn t weigh in on the underlying motivation for some of the failures, he talked about we know that is now squarely under investigation by john durham, the prosecutor, the attorney general bill barr has tapped to look further into the case. more to come. laura jarrett, thank you very much. joining us now mazie hirono of hawaii and she questioned the inspector general today. senator thank you so much for joining us. certainly. let s talk about your questioning. you questioned the inspector general about the attorney general bill barr s comments contradicting his report. so what is the impact of the attorney general s recent statements? i think it is unusual for the attorney general to have a press conference and issue a statement rather than submitting his comments in writing as usually happens. so this is once again the attorney general acting like the attorney for the president. so clearly what the i.g. report
sanchez joins us now live from the white house. how is the president responding and how he got wind of it and what it next? yes. justin amash previously criticized president trump disagreeing with the administration on a number of issues, but we ve never really seen president trump respond to that sort criticism in this way. he believes congressman amash is doing this for publicity. take a look at two tweets he send about three hours ago about the congressman. in it he says that he believes that if amash had actually read the mueller report, he would see that it was strong on no collusion and no obstruction. as you all know, fred, robert mueller didn t weigh in on obstruction, no matter mat president says. he goes on to say that amash is a loser who sadly plays right into our opponent s hand. amash clearly striking a chord with president trump, but we should point out that the congressman is an outlier here.
all eyes on the testimony on wednesday. over the weekend we saw the sentencing memo for paul manafort, another person ensnared in the special counsel s investigation in the president s inner circle. and it was scathing. it essentially didn t weigh in on what he should be sentenced with, but it said basically no holds barred because he acted in such an illegal and brazen way. don junior weighed in on this. i want you to listen and get your reaction on the other side. they put incredible pressure on regular guys that couldn t afford million dollars in legal fees and got them to slip up and say something incorrectly. that s all that happened. there are no actual crimes. there s only things that people did in past lives. what do you make of that. and hanging over this whole discussion is the president considering pardoning manafort? he has yet to say that he s not going to do that. right.
telling the president what? intelligence officials in the briefing responded that that was not consistent with any of the intelligence our government possesses, to which the president replied, i don t care. i believe putin. i m talking with paul callan and laura jarrett, both with me now. laura, this is yet another example, it appears, of the president believing putin over his own intelligence agencies. it is. it s reminiscent of past statements we ve heard publicly from the president where he said he asked him about whether russia interfered in our 2016 elections and he said he didn t do it. again, the question always comes down to why does he take the word of vladimir putin? andrew mccabe didn t weigh in on that existential question but does paint a picture of why fbi officials were so worried. this specific anecdote, mccabe
