During a City Commission meeting on Tuesday, Mayor Scott Decker argued in favor of increasing the sales tax as part of a plan to provide property tax relief while boosting funding to various municipal projects.
Dr. Robert Baer won an uncontested race during the June 14 primary election for the open seat on the board of commissioners with 1,160 votes. Commissioner Jason Fridrich was reappointed for another four-year term, receiving 1,133 votes.
With heavy amounts of moisture around western North Dakota, staying on top of mowing has become a chore, especially for city Buildings and Grounds workers in Dickinson. Residents have not gone unscathed either, as more than 300 have been brought to the city’s attention for failing to cut grass in Dickinson.
The estimated $32 million project which is tentative to change over the course of planning and design and accounts for all three potential phases would provide a fully funded Public Safety Training Center.
