DICKINSON For the first time since 2018, the City of Dickinson sought to impose an increase in sales tax. Voting concluded on Tuesday night and saw the 2023 Annual Appropriation and Tax Levy fail by a large margin of 63.1% to 36.9%.
The Phil Patterson Memorial Bandshell was awash in color as area residents participated in the annual Dickinson Parks and Recreation Chalk Walk event. Dickinson High School Art Club members showcased their artistic flair with a series of pieces highlighting young artists in the community.
During the Dickinson City Commission’s regularly scheduled meeting, City Attorney Christina Wenko provided a presentation on a proposed 1% sales tax increase and what that could mean for Dickinson residents. The commission will continue to review this proposal with the upcoming budget session.
Players Sports Bar and Grill on Saturday, April 10. $20 will secure a taco at each location for those in attendance. Festivities are slated to begin at 12 p.m. and run until 6 p.m. Registration will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Roosevelt Grand Dakota has decided not to participate.
Committee member Amy Anton said due to COVID-19, the chamber will only be giving out 250 tickets, of which she said around 50 have been sold.
Tacos will not be the only featured items. Participants may be eligible to win a selection of door prizes at each location at no extra charge.
Also, the featured bars will be offering various food and drink specials to participants.
