California governor jerry brown weighed in today on the situation here in the state, saying its bracing for its toughest fire season yet. Less wind and cooler temperatures this weekend have actually helped crews in san diego, though, largely subdue nearly a dozen fires there. Since the middle of last week, fire there has consumed at least 26,000 acres. So far this year, cal fire has responded to over 1500 wildfires across the state. More than twice as many fires as average. San jose fire captain rob brown says theyre watching conditions closely and are staffed and ready to go. Its not really as green as you think it is. First, lets go to kimberly terry. Very strong words from the governor. Very strong words. He didnt mince his words. Its going to be a tough summer. This is why. This is what has firefighters so concerned. Dried out vegetation and, conditions, they say, they usually dont see until mid to late summer.
