Conversation with diane. On with please welcome diane and liz to the pratt library. [applause] hello. Good evening. Can you hear us . Hello. This does work. L hear u well, i just wanted to start the conversation off by having diane tell you you have probably know of her as an actress but maybe you dont know her back story. So, i wanted to ask her to give us the briefest of instructions about her story, just to sort of structure and who she is. Thank you. Thank you, liz, thank you, judy, and thank you pratt library, and thank you to all of you foring here today. Feel so honored that you guys came out to hear me speak. Ill try my best. My name is diane guerrero. My parents are colombian immigrants. Was born in new jersey but i was raised in boston. Boston. Anybody . No. Yay my parents came here with a visa in hopes i mean, this story changes sometimes between me and my dad. Sometimes they say we were just going to see how check out the states or my mother had hopes of staying and making

And at the same time the adams camp accused Andrew Jacksons wife, but it was vicious. We think of it like politics, it was very civil. Adams it was great. It was very not very nice. Was there a particular period of her life or episode in her life or aspect of her life that you were frustrated by this horrible record about and wanted to go into more detail on . Great question. Certainly slavery is one of the things i was interested in. I know it is frustrating because i had census records and legal documents and she didnt write about that stuff. I cant talk about her attitudes in quite that way although she does talk about slavery later. There are periods she goes silent. I felt the lack of her voice in those moments but she did leave, she herself left a vibrant record, not like a lot of women at the time burn their letters because people didnt she burned this. I feel very lucky to have chosen a subject, she later said she had a mania for writing. I would like to think about that later.

[inaudible] the people who are my true friends are supportive and a lot of my friends from clueless are still supportive of me but there are a lot of people who are no longer my friends. They just stop talking to me. Family members as well. But thats okay because i believe if god wants you to do something he opens up the doors and all you have to do is walk through them and thats what im doing. [inaudible] i just wondered what you would say to people who are supporting hillary clinton. How do you can bet this clinton machine . What do you say to young women in this room. I say to women, i have a new brand and its called america one of my platforms is called 21st century feminism and that is being a lady, just like every single one of you in here, being a woman, dressing like a woman, behaving like a lady, using all the tools god gave you and dont let anyo
