After a year of unprecedented disruptions, some parents ― particularly those of children with disabilities ― are asking their school for a redo.

Jeanette Beasley’s stepson is in fifth grade and barely reads on a second grade level. Since March 2020, when schools shut down at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, his progress has moved at a snail’s pace. His school, so far, has remained in virtual mode, and the services that typically help him manage his autism, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder and learning disability have been lacking.

FLINT, MI Carol McIntosh has been elected by the Flint Community Schools Board of Education to serve as board president for the year.
It took three rounds of voting Jan. 13 before McIntosh received the required majority of four votes for the position.

ALBANY The time-honored post-Christmas rush of gift returns is growing larger, but you might not know it by visiting your favorite mall or department store.
You would see it, though, if you stopped by Corner Gateway, a family-run printing/shipping business in Slingerlands. Our whole storage room was filled to the brim, Project Manager Greg Eberle said of the volume of packages they had leading up to Christmas. And after the holidays, they were still getting lots of boxes that people dropped off in order to return unwanted gifts or other items that had come via the postal service, Amazon delivery, UPS or other shippers.
