Scientists of Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) have discovered a new species of headshield sea slug in the Bay of Bengal along the Odisha-West Bengal coast. They have named it Melanochlamys droupadi in honor of President Droupadi Murmu. The new species is a small invertebrate with a maximum length of up to 7 mm. It is hermaphrodite and normally crawls on the intertidal zone, leaving behind a mark on sandy beaches. They reproduce apparently between November and January.
