The activist-author told The Wire the Union home ministry's move to cancel the FCRA license of the Centre for Equity Studies is a "direct attack on the principles of freedom of expression and freedom to dissent".
Harsh Mander has been on the radar of central agencies for a while now, with the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation attempting to pursue cases of money laundering and FCRA violations against him.
The ministry also accused the Centre for Equity Studies of using foreign contributions to create and release reports authored by non-FCRA associations.
