QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Village Council approved a five-year contract agreement with Erin Hamilton-Crites on Tuesday night who will serve as the new Canine Control Officer for the Village.
The Village Council approved the reinstatement of a police canine unit in October.
A policy establishing the utilization of the canine has also been put in place.
Officer Cody Longrey was the handler for a year-and-a-half but the Quincy K-9 program was discontinued in January of 2018 when Longrey accepted a position with the Coldwater Police Department.
Magnum K-9 would be donating the animal and various fundraising options have been explored.
