Burlington, IA- After a hiatus due to the pandemic, Des Moines County Emergency Management will be hosting the in-person severe weather spotting training program. The two-and-a-half-hour program will take place on Monday, March 21st, at the Capitol Theatre in Burlington. The class begins at 6 PM and registration is not required. Storm Spotters provide the National Weather Service with critical information, such as hail size, wind speed, tornado development, and local damage reports in incidents of severe weather. Spotters serve an important function in the community to help warn the public before disaster strikes. Des Moines County Communications (DESCOM) will also present information regarding their role during weather emergencies.
