Pentagon, Disney Revive Mask Mandates Following CDC Change By Lindsay Kalter
July 29, 2021 It has been 2 days since the CDC reversed itself and said people who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus should wear masks again when indoors, and businesses and government entities are already following suit.
On July 27, the agency called for masks in K-12 school settings and in areas of the U.S. experiencing “substantial and high” COVID-19 transmission, even for those who are fully vaccinated.
The new guidance is a significant shift from the CDC’s announcement in May that fully vaccinated Americans could skip wearing a mask in most settings.

The U.S. Department of Defense has issued directions that require anyone inside its facilities to wear a mask, even if they re vaccinated.
The updated requirement applies to all service members, federal employees, onsite contractors, and visitors, and requires masks to be worn in indoor facilities and installations in areas of substantial or high transmission, according to a statement from Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Jamal Brown.
The update rescinds a previous mask guidance, which since May had allowed fully vaccinated Department of Defense personnel to not wear a mask indoors or outdoors.

Pentagon to Require Masks Indoors in COVID-19 Hot Spots Regardless of Vaccination Status
The Pentagon announced on Wednesday that masks will be mandated indoors at Defense Department installations in areas with substantial or high community transmission of COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status.
Service members, civilian workers, contractors, and visitors must wear masks indoors at military installations and other facilities “owned, leased, or otherwise controlled” by the Pentagon in areas where COVID-19 transmission is “substantial” or “high,” according to a statement from Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Jamal Brown.
The decision follows the latest mask-wearing guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which moved to say that fully vaccinated individuals should wear masks indoors in some areas, citing new research into outbreaks from several states and other countries.
