the sheriff here has been very quebec to respond, calling for an independent investigation, which the fbi is now going to do. and even say that within 24 hours, he will have a decision on deputy fields fate. this is something that not only people but the world wants to know, what will happen to him? is he going to be able to still be employed here or terminated? i think everybody needs to make a quick decision him i also want to be fair and do a thorough investigation. that s what we ve done. can you tell us, sheriff, which way you are leaning? . really, i don t think that s proper for me to describe, which way i m leaning at this point. i think the video is very express it and that s probably pretty much speaks for itself. now, one other. the sheriff said at the press conference, the sheriff said, look, we ve never seen that sort of behavior out of this officer. i ve never seen this out of this
them to do, and this is to investigate this incident as a policy violation, to see if deputy fields broke any of the policies or procedures that we do. i think that somebody asked yesterday normally in the cases like this, it take as long extended time to do it. this one did not need to take very long. the videos helped, the statements we got, and our properer policy and procedures that we go by are there for us to know what to do. it is not something that needed to take long, and it didn t take long. i think that sometimes in these cases, and maybe other places, they take a little bit unnecessary time. we well, we felt like we needed to do this very quickly, because the public needed to know what happened and what our response was going to to be to this. again, our responsibility was to do the internal investigation solely. solely on policies and
the school resource officer with her fist and striking. what she does is not what i am looking at. what i am looking at what is our student resource officer did. the girl was wrong for disturbing the class and refusing the verbal command of deputy fields. but he is concerned about the way the deputy responded in this case. the parent of one student in the class is troubled. i can t believe a man used that much force on a little girl a big man 300 pounds and full of muscle. deputy fields is also a football coach for the high school football team. he was given a culture of excellence award by element i school last year. fields has been sued for using excess sieve force in the past. the jury decided in his favor. they are accusing him of targeting black students.
within our schools. reporter: according to authorities, the spring valley high school student was asked to leave the classroom. when she refused that request from her teacher and a school administrator, fields, who was also a school resource officer, was called to arrest her. the school board calling the video extremely disturbing, and has banned the deputy from all of the district schools pending an investigation. we don t want everyone to rush to judgment, but we also feel that the video was very, very disturbing. reporter: fields, now on paid administrative duty, pending the outcome of the sheriff s department s own investigation into what happened. the sheriff cautioning it is still unclear what occurred before cameras started rolling. we ll have to look at this in its totality to understand exactly what happened. is this a pattern, is this something that he s done before. reporter: deputy fields has been the subject of two lawsuits in the last ten years. in 2007, a coupl
