The fine was imposed on them after a hearing at DoE office in Khulshi of Chattogram. Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, director of DoE (Chattogram region) told The Daily Star Chittagong Marine Shipyard in Sitakunda upazila was fined Tk 15 lakh for not renewing their environmental clearance certificate. Apart from this 22 brick fields were fined Tk 70.5 lakh for using drum chimney which is prohibited under the brick kiln control act, he said.
