Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Medziphema, celebrated the kisan mela under Jal Shakti Abhiyan on November 15 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) office premises in Porba under Phek district. An update from ICAR-NRC informed that the guest of honour and former MLA, Deo Nukhu, emphasised on the Jal Shakti Abhiyan theme “Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls” and encouraged the farmers to conserve water, which is an essential element in their day-to-day lives. He also urged the participants to take the opportunities in various agri and allied field from the KVK. Dr. MH Khan, principal scientist of ICAR-NRCM, Medziphema, spoke on the importance of basic requirements of survival namely food, air and water. Dimapur, Sep. 6 (EMN): The oldest school in Zhavame village under Phek district – Government Primary School, Zhavame, which was established on April 1, 1947, commemorated 75 years of its existence on September 5 coinciding with Teachers’ Day celebration at Pame Tsüdu in Zhavame village on the theme “Reflecting forward.” In his message, former minister, Deo Nukhu, who graced the occasion as the special guest, extended his gratitude to all the past pioneers and congratulated all the present teachers in the village. “It is quite befitting that the auspicious occasion is being observed on ‘Teachers’ Day,’ which falls on the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – a philosopher, scholar and great teacher,” Nukhu said. Dimapur, July 30 (EMN): Nagaland National People’s Party (NPP) has unanimously resolved to support an early, peaceful and acceptable solution to the long pending Naga political problem, while it called upon both the state and central governments not to stall the peace process by giving undue excuses but to be honest and mature in taking the right step for the benefit of the common people. The party also reaffirmed its stand on ‘solution before election’ as the very essence of the Naga peace talks would be diluted in the murky waters of elections. It, therefore, called upon all the political parties to take a mature stand on the Naga political issue and not play with the sentiments of the public.
