Dense fog and cold wave conditions disrupted air and rail traffic in North India. Several flights and trains to Delhi were delayed or cancelled as zero visibility was recorded at Delhi IGI Airport.
A layer of fog lowered visibility to zero metres at several places in north and northeast India, affecting rail traffic, officials said. Satellite imagery showed some reduction in fog over Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Cold wave in India: Very dense fog was reported in isolated parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh and northwest Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday late night, according to the IMD.
161 flights were delayed and 34 cancelled in departures from Delhi airport; another 78 flights that were supposed to arrive were also delayed and 37 were cancelled.
