Police say the infant suffered head injuries on Dec. 17 when she was left in the care of a longtime family friend. But 30 minutes into her shift at a hospital, she received an emergency phone call that her baby Layla was unresponsive at her home.
ROSEVILLE After a 1-year-old girl died from what police initially said was “an unexplained head injury” in December, an acquaintance of the child’s mother has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
"He is being charged with manslaughter, but I don't think 15 years is enough for what happened to her," Hartley said. "Her life is gone and I think he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison, with no parole."
