MEDINA, Ohio Members of the Save Your Courthouse Committee have filed a taxpayer lawsuit against the City of Medina.
According to a press release from the organization, the lawsuit is looking to stop the “expenditure of taxpayer money and resources in violation of the citizen’s initiative that city voters passed last fall.”

MEDINA, Ohio Mayor Dennis Hanwell provided City Council and the community with an update about the city’s courthouse project during Monday’s Finance Committee meeting (Jan. 25).
Hanwell had earlier spoken with Medina County Commissioner Bill Hutson, County Administrator Scott Miller and Medina Municipal Court Judge Gary Werner about the possibility of moving the municipal court into the 1969 building on the east side of Public Square.
“When I met with Judge Werner individually and asked if he would be willing to consider if the 1969 building could be renovated on the square moving the Municipal Court operation over there, there were three qualifications that he said would need to be met for him to agree to it,” Hanwell said.

MEDINA, Ohio Several local churches came together to host a service in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday evening (Jan. 18).
Some got to attend the event in person, and it was also streamed online. The event was hosted by Cornerstone Chapel.
Pastors and praise teams from Second Baptist Church, St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Harvest Presbyterian Church, Medina United Church of Christ Congregational and Medina Church of the Nazarene also participated.

MEDINA, Ohio During City Council’s Finance Committee meeting on Monday (Jan. 11), Main Street Medina was recognized for its work in supporting the community through the COVID-19 pandemic.
This came about as council discussed an ordinance allowing the city to renew its membership in the non-profit organization that promotes and works to preserve Medina’s historic district.

Cleveland, OH - The Ohio House of Representatives of the 133rd General Assembly has commended the City of Medina for its recognition by Trips to Discover as Ohio’s Most Festive Christmas Town in 2020.
The City of Medina is now in week five of its eight-week celebration of Hometown Holidays kicked off by Candlelight Walk and featuring special events every weekend planned by Main Street Medina and its community partners.
In addition to having a picture perfect downtown, Medina is home to the country’s largest Christmas Museum Castle Noel, a “must-see” experience that draws visitors from across the United States.
