The dilapidated and condemned Uncle Billy’s hotel will have a perimeter fence constructed around the entire property beginning this month. The purpose of the fence is to physically secure the site from continued illegal occupation and to alleviate health and safety concerns. Demolition of the building could begin by the end of the year.
Because of recent actions by the Hawai’i County Council and Hawai‘i Gov. Josh Green, there is a mandate to fast track demolition of the abandoned 148-bedroom structure that formerly was Uncle Billy’s Hilo Bay Hotel along Banyan Drive.
Watoto Church is housed in what is reputed to be the first cinema built in Kampala between the 1940s and 1950s by an Asian- Ugandan tycoon, Norman Godinho who allegedly came to Uganda in 1906.
