The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) reports a 43% average increase in the assets of 324 recontesting Members of Parliament (MPs) over the last five years. The average asset value grew from Rs 21.55 crore in 2019 to Rs 30.88 crore in 2024. Party-wise analysis shows varied percentages of asset growth.
An analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms reveals that a significant number of Lok Sabha candidates from major parties, including BJP and Congress, have declared criminal cases in their affidavits. The cases range from serious crimes such as murder and hate speech. The report provides both party-wise and state-wise breakdowns of candidates with criminal backgrounds.
There has been an increase of 104 per cent in the number of political parties contesting Lok Sabha elections from 2009 to 2024, according to an analysis by poll rights body ADR.
