The commission voted unanimously, and dismissed a complaint filed by R.I. Republican Party chairman Joe Powers alleging Shekarchi had pushed for a bill that would have benefitted a client of his law firm.
His lawyer, Thomas Tarro, filed a miscellaneous petition in Kent County Superior Court on Monday seeking court permission to issue subpoenas and depose WPRO radio s Dan Yorke about on-air comments the talk-show host made about the Zarrella fundraiser controversy.
He hasn t filed a lawsuit yet, but appears to be seeking evidence from WPRO s owner, Cumulus Media, to do so.
More specifically, the petition alleges that Yorke, on May 10, while on air, made defamatory and offensive statements about Gerald Zarrella which painted Gerald Zarrella in a false light and was stated with the intent to cause harm to his name, reputation and ethnic group from which he derives.
